‘O, Sister city, how did we forget you …’

Dear Editor,
I was very interested in Martin Cheek’s piece,

O, Sister, Where Art Thou?

(Sept. 10) about our sister cities around the world. But did he
forget Angra do Heroismo, Mayor Pinheiro’s home town in the
Azores?
Dear Editor,

I was very interested in Martin Cheek’s piece, “O, Sister, Where Art Thou?” (Sept. 10) about our sister cities around the world. But did he forget Angra do Heroismo, Mayor Pinheiro’s home town in the Azores? I thought it was declared one of Gilroy’s sister cities some time ago.

Some of America’s most devout, loyal, and industrious citizens, including my ancestors, are from these tiny islands in the Mid-Atlantic. They are beautiful and interesting. And I guess I just don’t want them to be forgotten.

Jacquelyn Keaveney, Gilroy

Editor’s note: Our mistake. Angra do Heroismo was indeed designated a sister city early this year.
