Good buddy of Jeramy’s: ‘I could never ask for a better Friend/Marine’

Dear Editor,
Jeramy and I were good friends. I have known him since middle
school and grew up with him in Gilroy. Right now I am serving in
the Marine Corps and I am stationed in Islamabad, Pakistan. I use
to be stationed at Camp Pendleton and would drive home just about
every other weekend with Jeramy.
Dear Editor,

Jeramy and I were good friends. I have known him since middle school and grew up with him in Gilroy. Right now I am serving in the Marine Corps and I am stationed in Islamabad, Pakistan. I use to be stationed at Camp Pendleton and would drive home just about every other weekend with Jeramy.

We would be blaring our country music CD’s driving fast down the freeway joking about our past week of work and our plans for the weekend. Jeramy and I would make our routine stop at Starbucks and the gas station on the north side of the Grapevine on I-5, and on our way back to base we would be right back there drinking our frappucinos.

Every weekend we tried to leave Gilroy in time to get back to base and be able to get our weekly hair cuts (we never made it), so we usually ended up shaving each others head in my bathroom at about midnight knowing that we both had to get up at 4am and be inspection ready. All of this was worth our weekend home.

But before we were in the Marine Corps together, I remember hanging out – fishing, hunting, camping, and wheeling. We use to go to Hollister’s four-wheel park and camp. And, with Jeramy it wasn’t camping unless you had a 15-foot tall fire. Whenever we went, before anything in camp was set up, you would find Jeramy pouring our reserve gas in the fire, especially at the Pismo Beach dunes. Half the time we wouldn’t need lights – our fire was so big it was like day time.

I could go on and on about all the fun times I’ve had with Jeramy. There really wasn’t a dull moment with him from riding our bikes around the entire city limits, to fishing every place we could find water, to hunting every place we could find land, to working together at Starbucks, to hanging out at Camp Pendleton. I can only thank God for the times I was able to share with him. I could never ask for a better MARINE/FRIEND. Memories of Jeramy will last forever!
