Gary Vernon Calvert of Gilroy died in the early morning hours of Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Born May 3, 1951 in Casper, Wyo., Mr. Calvert was an active member of the South Valley business community, president of ASCO Air and was working for Prime Mechanical of Morgan Hill.
He was a member of the Gilroy Rotary, and an active member of Advent Lutheran Church where he was energetically involved in the youth program.
Mr. Calvert had a zest for life and lived everyday to the fullest.
He was a private pilot, marathon runner and former Army and Air Force pilot who served in Korea.
He is survived by his wife, Beth of 23 years; four children, Christopher, Amanda, Daniel and Ryan; parents, Walt and Mardelle of Colorado; sisters, Teresa Cordova and Sharon Linnebur; mother-in-law, Ann Price; sister-in-law, Sherry Quick and Sandy (Paul) Otellini; along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Dec. 30, 2004.
The family asks that contributions in lieu of flowers be made to the American Cancer Society.
