Lockdown at Luigi Aprea

Gilroy
– Police searched the neighborhood around Luigi Aprea Elementary
School this afternoon after two students reported seeing a man with
a handgun near the playground, prompting police to lockdown the
school for about an hour.
Students were huddled under their desks as police searched the
school, in eerily similar fashion to Gilroy High School students
who were locked down in May when a student called police
threatening to shoot a teacher.
The incident at Luigi Aprea began about 1:15pm. Police, some
armed with rifles, responded and searched the school grounds.
Parents who gathered at the school picked up their children once
the lockdown was lifted at 2:15pm, about the time school normally
lets out for the day.
The man was described as black and was dressed all in black.
There were conflicting reports from students about which direction
the man fled.
More details on Friday.
