Joe Fortino, Sr. of Gilroy, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005.
He enjoyed fishing, swimming, bowling, boxing, and working with his hands. In the ’50s, he owned Liberty Club, Club O.K. and Club 14-0, after which he went to work for Atlas Pools where he worked as a foreman until his retirement.
He is survived by daughter-in-law, Margaret; son, Jim and his wife Pat Fortino, Joe and his wife Peggy Fortino; grandchildren, Gordon and Sandy, Tim and Andrea, Lt. John and Michelle, Mike and Keri, Amanda, Carolyn, Joe and Renee; great-grandchildren, Amy, Ashley, Johnny, Jacob, Jessica, Lukas, Niko, Jenna, Daniel, Anthony, and Dominic; brothers, Frank and Ruby, Ron and Maxine, Louise Fortino; aunts, Louise Nacarrato and Juanita Gallo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Freda Fortino, son Robert Fortino, and brothers Sandy and Al Fortino.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30pm Thursday, Jan. 20, at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
Donations may be made in Joe’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
