Salinas reappointed chairman of committee

Santa Clara County – Assemblymember Simon Salinas (D-Salinas) has been reappointed chairman of the Assembly Local Government Committee, a post he has held since 2003.

“As a former local official, I am truly honored to be given the opportunity to continue working on issues that affect our local communities,” Salinas said. “When I came to Sacramento four years ago, my first goal was to bridge the gap between state officials and local governments.”

Salinas oversees all legislation pertaining to local jurisdictions, land-use powers and special districts.

“That bills that go through my committee aren’t flashy, but they are critical to the quality of life of every Californian,” Salinas said. “If the state-local relationship is broken, everyone suffers.”
