Meeting for 152 improvements
Gilroy – An informational open house about the proposed improvements to state routes 152 and 156 will be held tonight, from 6pm to 8pm, at Casa de Fruta, Gate 5, Pacheco Hall, 10031 Pacheco Pass Highway, Hollister.
The proposed project would reconfigure the existing intersection, most significantly through the construction of a flyover ramp on eastbound 152, to bypass its intersection with 156.
The informational meeting is co-hosted by the California Department of Transportation and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.

Volunteer for Grand Jury
San Jose – The Superior Court of California, Santa Clara County wants volunteers to serve on the 2005-06 Civil Grand Jury.
The term will begin on June 30, 2005 and last one year. Residents who are U.S. citizens 18 years or older and have lived in the county for one year may apply.
The Civil Grand Jury – an arm of the Superior Court – serves as the county’s investigatory body, and may examine all aspects of county and city government, special districts and school districts, to ensure that the best interests of the county’s citizens are served.
Members of the Grand Jury also look into citizen complaints alleging suspicions of governmental misconduct or inefficiencies.
Service on the Grand Jury requires a significant time commitment of a minimum of 20-25 hours per week, but it also provides citizens with a unique opportunity to contribute to the efficiency of local government.
The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Feb. 22.

GHS presents Travis Fox
Gilroy – Gilroy High School will present Travis Fox performing Hypnomania at 6pm and 8pm Feb. 4 in the high school’s main gym.
Tickets on sale now during lunch at the Associated Student Body Office or by calling 847-3990.
Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults, in advance. Proceeds help support GHS Safe and Sober Grad Nite 2005.

Polenta dinner aids students
Gilroy – The Italian Catholic Federation Branch 28, Gilroy will present the fifth annual Polenta Dinner Saturday at St. Mary Church in Cullen Hall, 11 First St. All proceeds benefit ICF charities including scholarships for local students.
Take out available after 5:30pm. Bring your own containers. Dinner will be served from 6 to 8pm.
Donation $12 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12.

Get an annual park pass
Gustine – The California Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a variety of passes for park enthusiasts. The Annual Day Use Pass is $125 and allows visitors to enter the park for day-use activities for a 12-month period. The pass is valid for most state parks.
The Annual Boat Pass is $75 and allows visitors to launch their vessels.
The state also offers Disabled Discount Passes, Golden Bear Passes and Limited Golden Bear Passes.
Passes can be purchased 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday at the San Luis Reservoir Headquarters, 31426 Gonzaga Road in Gustine.
