Local nonprofit service agency employees on verge of striking

Morgan Hill – Employees of Community Solutions, a local nonprofit community service agency, will vote Monday whether to go on strike after an hour-long rally at noon.

The workers’ contract is set to expire Tuesday. Employees will announce the results immediately after the vote is taken at the end of the rally.

Community Solutions’ management and its employees have stalled in negotiations for weeks. Management proposed to take away dependent health care from its employees and not raise employee wages until at least 2007.

The rally will take place from noon to 1pm Monday at Community Solutions office in Morgan Hill, 16264 Church St.

The strike vote results will be announced at 12:50pm.

Community Solutions also has an office at 6980 Chestnut St. in Gilroy and two additional offices in Morgan Hill.
