Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce for naming my company Articulate Solutions “2004 Small Business of the Year.”

The Chamber has been instrumental in helping my business transition from a home-based consulting business to a fully staffed design and marketing studio. This support has included comprehensive networking and leadership opportunities, advice on working successfully in the regional marketplace and solid business referrals which have led to long-term client relationships. This growth has allowed me the opportunity to support a variety of local non-profits by offering pro-bono services and the effects are hopefully far-reaching.

Additionally, I would like to thank the Chamber staff (Susan, Marsha, Rosie and Kathy) and awards committee – along with our local business and political leaders – for making the awards ceremony an incredible event that I will always remember. Honorees and our guests enjoyed limousine rides, a champagne reception and more. We received acknowledgments from local, state and national leaders such as Mayor Al Pinheiro, County Supervisor Don Gage, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer and many more.

Most of these acknowledgments were facilitated by the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce – it’s a nice notation to have on my “permanent record” and I am impressed at the national reach of our local Chamber.

What I became most aware of during the evening was that this event comes from the heart of Gilroy. Every congratulations and warm hug was a reminder that Gilroy is truly a great place to live and to work.

Ironically, my business has grown because of the people in the room that evening –  I felt that I should have been hosting the event to thank all of them for the opportunities they have given me.
