You can be Catholic and support abortion despite letter writer’s claim

Dear Editor,
This letter is in response to David Kaeini who says if you are
for abortion and you are a Catholic, you are no longer worthy of
receiving communion or being a Catholic
– period! He wants your attention.
Dear Editor,

This letter is in response to David Kaeini who says if you are for abortion and you are a Catholic, you are no longer worthy of receiving communion or being a Catholic – period! He wants your attention.

I’m Catholic and I’m liberal, and no I don’t LIKE abortion, but what a woman wants to do with her own body is up to her, not you. Also, I find your arrogance and your snobbery true to the far conservative right that you seem to represent – always trying to tell us how to live or what to think!

Who are you to tell us what we should believe in or not?

If Kaeini thinks publishing his views on others will get him a platform, so be it. But in reality, he needs to look at the world a little closer before he passes judgment on the rest of us. We care, too. Nobody likes abortion!

I really don’t like abortion, but in some cases it is needed unfortunately, especially in countries where population and disease are running rampant. But to tell us we can’t be Catholic is un-American. What happened to our free country and the freedom of choice? I guess we should give this up, too.

Supporters of abortion are not guilty of murder as he suggests. If you don’t like America or the people in it, then go somewhere else where there is no abortion, but remember this: There will always be abortion. Outlaw it and it will be done in secret. Is this what you want, too?
