Maria S. Galvan died suddenly Monday afternoon at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister. She was 83.
Born in Texas, Mrs. Galvan lived in Hollister for 44 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and had been a homemaker all her adult life.
She was the mother of Tully Galvan of San Jose, Victor Galvan of Fresno, Freddy Galvan of San Juan Bautista, David Galvan of San Jose, John Galvan of Hollister, Ramon Galvan of Nevada, Raul Galvan and Elisa Corral both of Hollister; sister of Natividad Salazar of Seattle, Tony Salazar of San Jose. She also is survived by 29 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sons Pedro and Ruben Galvan; siblings Marcia and Frank Salazar and husband Antonio Galvan who died in 1977.
Visitation will be held at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home from 9am to 8pm, today, with the rosary offered at 7pm.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30am Thursday at the funeral home then proceeding to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a funeral Mass celebration at 10am.
Graveside services and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
