John D. Kinslow died Sunday, March 27, 2005. He was 61.

Mr. Kinslow was a native of Ness City, Kansas and lived in Hollister the past 39 years. He worked in construction and building highways for Granite Construction for many years. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 3 of Dublin.

Mr. Kinslow’s interests were the outdoors taking rides in the country; barbecuing – especially his annual Harley Davidson Barbecue held at his home for hundreds of riders from all over the country who would come to visit he and his spouse Joanne.

As a youth, he was educated in Turlock and was very proud that he still maintained close friendships with his old school buddies. They also came to Hollister often, as did Arlin Ness, to visit John at home and attend his barbecues.

He is survived by his wife and good friend, Joanne Kinslow of Hollister; sons, Michael John Kinslow of San Jose; Robert Lee Kinslow and spouse Rose of Oakley; and his shared son, Vince Sardam of Hollister; granddaughters Chelbe, Cyndee, and Cassidee Kinslow of Oakley; half-brothers Ralph Kinslow of Redding and Robert Freedman of New Mexico; half-sisters Twilla Sweet of Texas and Trieva Winans of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; and his very special friends Greg Thul and Dick Renfrow of Hollister.

As per his request, arrangements have been made for cremation and private inurnment through Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory 870 San Benito St., Hollister.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of John’s life at 2pm, Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Hollister Elks Lodge 351 Astro Drive, Hollister (At Hollister Airport).

In lieu of flowers, cards with donations are preferred to the family for the celebration of John’s life.
