Alma Cora Cathrein

Alma Cora Cathrein, died Monday, May 27, 2005 of natural causes. She was 100.

Born in Salinas, February 19, 1905, she lived in Prunedale on a ranch at the end of Pesante Road most of her life.

She was a member and volunteer of the Prunedale Senior Center for several years. She loved playing cards, gardening, crossword puzzles and crocheting. She also taught crocheting and knitting for local 4-H clubs in Gilroy.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Rizzuto and husband Joe of Gilroy; sons, Felix Cathrein Jr. and wife Lilly and Ed Cathrein and wife Billie both of Salinas; grandchildren Joey, Jay and Jeanie Rizzuto of Gilroy, Kim Cathrein-Silva and Robert Cathrein of Salinas; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Felix in 1961.

Visitation will be held from 10am to 9pm Thursday, June 2 at the Whitehurst- Muller Funeral Home, located at 41 East Alisal Street, Salinas.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, June 3 at the Whitehurst-Muller chapel in Salinas.

Donations are preferred to Prunedale Senior Center, 8300 Prunedale North Road, Salinas, CA 93907.
