Trujillo blast lifts Dutchman’s to win

Gilroy – Dutchman’s Pizza needed eight innings to thump the Desperados 11-9 in a key Men’s CCC League softball game at Las Animas Park.

Rick Trujillo powered a two-run home run with two out in the eighth as Dutchman’s took sole possession of first place at 2-0 in the second half of league action.

Art Tomasetti sparked Dutchman’s with a 5-for-5 effort, scoring four runs. Bob Wess belted a three-run homer for the winners. Mike Olguin went 4-for-4 and Benjie Casares scored three runs for the Desperados.

Temple Inland scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning and then fell to Pro Electric 21-15.

Jeremy Page hit a home run and sacrifice fly in the Temple Inland first inning. Temple scored in only one other inning, a grand slam by Dave Signorotti in the third. Eddie Adame went 4-for-4 and Jose Adame went 3-for-3 for the 1-1 Electricians.

The Slammers moved to 1-1 with a 25-9 victory over Campbell’s Towing.

Val Casillas and Ray Covarubbias each went 4-for-4 for the Slammers, the first-half D champion. Kenny Hopf homered in a six-RBI performance. Ryan Ham went 3-for-3 and Sammy Avila homered for Campbell’s Towing.

Feather Haven Mill opened the Co-Rec B second half Sunday with a 16-10 win over California Chop Shop at Las Animas.

Steve Source and Brett Scott each stroked four hits for Feather Haven Mill. Richard Chavez went 5-for-5 and Eddie Gamboa homered in a 4-for-5 effort fort California Chop Shop.

Antoinette Bowe, Danny Rodriguez and Bobby Reggiani each lashed three hits to propel Chicks N’ Sticks past Team Hair FX 11-5. Tony Martinez went 3-for-3 for Team Hair FX.

California Silk Screening is 2-0 atop the Men’s CC League after a 28-11 win over Countryside Daycare Center Monday at Christmas Hill Park.

Joey Garcia and Steve Borgna each went 4-for-4 for the Screeners, Eric Peterson 3-for-3 for Countryside Daycare Center.

The VFW Vets rallied from a 4-0 deficit in the fifth inning to edge Windsor Plumbing 6-5. Caesar Sepulveda hit a two-run home run to help the Vets strike for five in the fifth frame. Danny Melendez singled and scored on a Sal Flores single in the sixth inning. Paul Bejarano went 2-for-4 for Windsor Plumbing.

Nolan Rickert’s two-run home run in the sixth inning and gave the Las Animas Sweepers a 12-11 nod over No Soup 4 You. Kevin Orosco added a homer and triple for the Sweepers. Jason Luna went 4-for-4 for No Soup 4 You.
