Random Act of Kindness Shows Off Our Great Town

Dear Editor,
The other day my girlfriend Sandy and I were running to get a
couple of pizzas in the Nob Hill shopping area. As we were driving
by, we saw the new Baskin Robbins ice cream store and the huge sign
in the window that said

$1 scoop on Tuesday.

Well, the two of us decided we couldn’t pass that up, since we
were right there.
Dear Editor,

The other day my girlfriend Sandy and I were running to get a couple of pizzas in the Nob Hill shopping area. As we were driving by, we saw the new Baskin Robbins ice cream store and the huge sign in the window that said “$1 scoop on Tuesday.” Well, the two of us decided we couldn’t pass that up, since we were right there.

I grabbed $3 and said “My treat,” and off we went. Well, you have to understand, off we went was more like hobble we went, as I have a broken leg and she has a bad knee, so the two of us are on crutches and wearing leg and knee immobilizers. After we got into the store, we found out that the $1 scoop was only valid from 6 to 10 pm and it was only 4pm. Now we didn’t have enough money with us to buy our ice cream.

I looked at my girlfriend and said I’ll go back to the car and get more money, which caused a discussion of whether or not we should even get the ice cream. When this beautiful young mother that was getting ice cream for her daughter said everybody need and deserves ice cream and you don’t need to go to your car to get more money. She handed me her dollar and change so that we could each get an ice cream. We were shocked and genuinely amazed that somebody would be so giving to us. We of course thanked her and her daughter. I thought that other people might like to hear about what a wonderful community that we live in. Gilroy really is a great place to live.
