Are you looking to install a new doorbell system? If so, here are a couple of tips you may want to consider.

You have many options when choosing a new doorbell, such as getting chimes or buzzers. You can even have multiple chimes for different doors.

The main parts to a doorbell are the button that goes on the outside of the house, the transformer and the ringer. Each of the components is connected by low-voltage wires.

Before beginning the installation process, make sure the power is off. The transformers are usually small enough to be mounted on the junction box, directly on a power outlet or placed nearby.

Once you have the wiring in place, you can connect the button and transformer, and the bell and the transformer.

Doityourself.com and Thehomeshow.com offer additional tips and suggestions for wiring and installing the doorbell system.

To avoid the hassle of installing wires, you may want to consider a wireless doorbell. Kits can be purchased at any home-improvement store, and they usually start around $30.
