To add some sparkle and pizzazz to the ordinary but invaluable things a mom does, El Dorado Hills housewives Dana Lombardi and Kim Legge recently created Couture Moms clothing line. The pair has taken their show on the road, stopping in South County to introduce the line at a wine reception at the San Martin home of Rebecca Santos last Friday night.
Using Swarovski crystals to spell out savvy sayings, the high-quality T-shirts come in a variety of colors and sleeve lengths. Adorning the fronts of the shirts are cool-chick phrases such as “le laundress,” “chic chauffeur,” “carpool couture,” “savvy soccer mom,” “primamama” and “glama” (in case grandma wants to get in on the cute couture).
My favorite play on words was pink lettering on a white toddler’s shirt that read “juicebox couture.” I can just imagine the juice stains that will add more coloring.
Moving from wine bar to dining-room table showroom, the gathering of ladies included Christine Payne, Kristin White, Mary Sue Soshan and Mary Lastra. (The last two were looking for a T-shirt design that read “R.V. mamas.”) Lori Mosher, an art teacher at Charter School, managed a comfortable round of wine, shopping and socializing.
Dana and Kim are taking more suggestions for their spring line of phrases. You can reach them through their Web site at www.couturemoms.com. But careful: The phrase “ciao for now” has been taken by you-know-who.
The sparkle on the couture moms T-shirts matches the sparkle happening at this weekend’s Poppyjasper Film Festival in Morgan Hill. Go to the Web site www.poppyjasperfilmfestival.org to view the schedule, and don’t miss the parties after the screenings. You may see some famous faces (or body types). Hint: She doesn’t like swimming in “Open Water.”
Ciao for now.
