Fond Memories of a Caring Young Woman, and Condolences

Dear Editor,
I was privileged to have Katie Renville as a student in my
American Literature class at Gilroy High during the 1999-2000
school year. She was very energetic and excited about what we were
studying. I knew I could always rely on Katie to do her homework
and keep up with her reading.
Dear Editor,

I was privileged to have Katie Renville as a student in my American Literature class at Gilroy High during the 1999-2000 school year. She was very energetic and excited about what we were studying. I knew I could always rely on Katie to do her homework and keep up with her reading.

As a first-year teacher I was often concerned that my lesson plans would flop. However, with Katie in my class I knew, at least during first period, the lesson would work, thanks to Katie. I could always count on her to have an opinion and speak up in class. She made my job much easier.

On a personal note, when I married in May 2000, she solicited donations from her classmates to buy me a wedding gift.

What a tragic loss. My condolences to Katie’s family for the loss of a wonderful young woman.
