A Morgan Hill woman was arrested twice last week on suspicion of theft and passing bad checks for cosmetic services to at least three downtown businesses.

Antionette Casillas, 34, was first arrested about 5 p.m. Dec. 30 on suspicion of petty theft, in which a hair salon on Second Street was the victim, according to Morgan Hill police Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.

Because the woman had prior theft convictions, she was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for felony charges. She posted bail the morning of Dec. 31. Later that day, a judge issued a $75,000 warrant for her arrest on three more incidents of commercial burglary and forgery, Neumayer said.

A Morgan Hill officer saw Casillas at Tennant Station the night of Dec. 31 and re-arrested her.

Casillas is alleged to have paid for hair salon and day spa services with stolen or fake checks at three different businesses in downtown Morgan Hill. The first reported incident happened Dec. 2, Neumayer said. The bad checks totaled about $1,000.

Police urge business owners and employees to ask check-writing customers to present valid identification, and ensure that the names on the ID and the check match.

Anyone with more information about these incidents may contact Morgan Hill Police at (408) 779-2101.
