SALINAS – The Gilroy High varsity wrestling team showed no mercy
in a 62-6 dual meet win over Salinas on Wednesday.
SALINAS – Upholding its Tri County Athletic League superiority, the Gilroy High varsity wrestling team flexed its muscles in a commanding 62-6 win over Salinas in a dual meet Wednesday night.
Leif Dominguez, Jasmine Yanez, Jesse Delgado, Blake Kastl, Ben Torricer and Luis Barragan all won by fall as the Mustangs only yielded the six points due to a forfeit.
Adam Rosso won by decision and Rodney Balajadia was victorious by major decision. Vincente Aboytes, Willie Fox, Dominic Kastl were awarded wins by forfeit.
“We are looking to improve with every league dual meet,” Dominic Kastl said prior to the team’s meet against the Cowboys. “We try to get through those and get on the right path; win league, win CCS and get to state.”
The Mustangs are now 3-0 in TCAL dual meets and next face Palma on Wednesday, Jan. 23 before hosting the annual MidCal Tournament, beginning Jan. 25.
