Delgado, Kastl wrestle in finals for GHS

The GHS wrestling team recorded its best showing at last weekend’s 5 Counties tournament held in Fountain Valley, placing fourth out of 96 teams.

Seniors Jesse Delgado (125) and Dominic Kastl (160) each went 4-1 to earn second place in their weight classes.

The Mustangs finished one spot ahead of last season’s state champions Poway.

GHS hosts the annual Mid Cals beginning Friday. About 70 teams are expected to participate.

GHS girls soccer racks up six goals

Freshman Taylor Slattery scored three goals in a 6-0 victory over TCAL opponent Notre Dame-Salinas on Friday.

The Mustangs (5-4-2, 3-0) led 4-0 at the half and tacked on two more in the second.

Katelyn Nebesnick, Sarina Sandoval and Cynthia Sanchez also tallied for the Mustangs.

GHS boys soccer now 3-0 in TCAL

Two second-half goals by Jorge Sanchez padded a 1-0 halftime lead as the Mustangs got by TCAL opponent Palma 3-0 on Thursday night in Gilroy.

Forrest Alvarez put the Mustangs up with his first-half goal.

GHS improves to 7-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the TCAL, placing them in first place.

The Mustangs travel to Salinas to take on the Cowboys on Tuesday.
