Former Gilroy Chamber of Commerce CEO Dave Bouchard has taken a new position as the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce’s chief executive officer. He started work at the San Carlos chamber Jan. 11.

Bouchard, a Hollister native, was CEO of the Gilroy Chamber from 1986 to 1993 after becoming the Garlic Festival’s first paid staff member in 1981. He spent 10 years as CEO of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce before taking a job at Chamber Publishing, a Dublin-based publisher of chamber directories, maps and Web sites. However, he said he lost his job as a result of the difficult economy.

“It’s a wonderful community,” he said of San Carlos, “and it’s just really exciting to have this opportunity to be a part of the business community and to be growing and expanding on what’s already here.”
