Police incidents: Man tracks thieves, recovers stolen electronics

 

An unidentified person discovered his fanny pack
– with a GPS valued at $350, a camera valued at $120,
miscellaneous cords valued at $40 and $220 in cash – was missing
from a shelf in the lobby of a business on Chestnut Street, 2:20
p.m. Feb. 19. Shannon Everett Valdez and another unidentified male
had just rented a saw from the business, and
the victim suspected them of taking the fanny pack. The victim
followed them in his car until an officer could get behind the
vehicle. When the officer arrived, the passenger got out of the
vehicle and walked away. Police found the fanny pack along the curb
and arrested Valdez.
Grand theft

A male dressed in all black took a Garmin GPS valued at $400 from an unlocked gold 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis on Leavesley Road and fled the scene, between 3 and 3:20 a.m. Feb. 21.

Victor Noel Vaca Jr., 25, was arrested for grand theft after being stopped by store security when he left the Camino Arroyo store without paying for Sexy brand hair shampoo and seven pairs of women’s thong underwear, 2:14 p.m. Feb. 20. Vaca entered the store with a shopping list but no money, police said. He picked up two toys, some men’s toiletries, the women’s underwear and a bra, then left the business without paying.

Lost property

An unidentified person lost property on Valley Forge Drive, 2:45 p.m. Feb. 19.

Assault

A unidentified person’s jaw was broken in a fight in Los Banos and was treated at Saint Louise Regional Hospital, 9400 No Name Uno, 9 p.m. Feb. 14.

Missing juvenile

A girl left her home on East Seventh Street after an argument with her older sister, 11 a.m. Feb. 19. The girl is believed to be with an older friend who is not welcome at the home.

A boy left his home on Heritage Way without his guardian’s authorization, 9:13 p.m. Feb. 21.

Found property

An unidentified person found a Schwinn bike on First Street, 9:16 p.m. Feb. 19.

Graffiti

A vandal or vandals tagged the walls of the men’s bathroom at Las Animas Veterans Park, 350 Mantelli Drive, 11:10 p.m. Feb. 19.

Assault

Two females were involved in a fight at the Oakwood Lounge, 7421 Monterey St., 12:02 a.m. Feb. 20.

A person punched another person in the face about five times on Renz Lane and fled prior to police arrival, 7:54 p.m. Feb. 21.

Possession of shopping cart

Ruben G. Cervantes was cited for possession of a shopping cart, 9:02 a.m. Feb. 20.

Stolen vehicle

A thief or thieves took a red 1991 Honda Civic, license plate no. 6FJH518, from the 8500 block of Church Street, between 9:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and 9:30 a.m. Feb. 20. The owner had just bought the vehicle a couple days earlier.

Auto burglary

A burglar or burglars took a black purse with a wallet, credit cards and cell phone from a black 2007 Cadillac Escalade on Grenache Way, between 9:45 and 10:10 a.m. Feb. 20.

A burglar or burglars took a Social Security card, driver’s license, checks and cash from a dark green 1992 Chevrolet convertible on West 10th Street, between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20.

A burglar or burglars took a vehicle battery, a digital camera and an unknown amount of loose change from a white 1997 Dodge van on Forest and West Sixth streets, between 3 and 10 a.m.

Stolen vehicle

A thief or thieves stole a maroon 1994 Honda Civic on Westwood Drive, between 4 p.m. Feb. 19 and 11:37 a.m. Feb. 20.

A thief or thieves stole a green 2001 GMC Sierra, license plate no. 6M71482, with the keys in the vehicle from Garlic City Club on Hornlein Court, 9:13 p.m. Feb. 21.

Fraud

A thief or thieves used a credit card from a lost wallet at Kohl’s, Target and Payless Shoes, between 4:25 p.m. Feb. 19 and 4:10 p.m. Feb. 20.

Embezzlement

Yolanda Maria Brown was cited for embezzling $17.46 worth of Burlington Coat Factory gift cards, between Jan. 14 and 23.

Residential burglary

A burglar or burglars forced open a window to a bathroom of a residence on the 7100 block of Church Street and took several items of jewelry and watches valued at $11,300, a piggy bank with $200 in change and an MP3 player valued at $160, between 6 and 11 p.m. Feb. 20.

Trespassing

Chevelle Lola Minter returned to Walgreens, 770 First St., 10 minutes after being asked to leave the property and was taken to county jail due to the likelihood of reoccurrence, 12:22 a.m. Feb. 21.

Non-injury accident

The driver of a tan 1999 Toyota Tacoma ran a red light at Leavesley Road and San Ysidro Drive and collided with a dark green 2007 Chevrolet Uplander and a dark green 2001 Toyota 4Runner, 1:18 p.m. Feb. 21.

Petty theft

A thief took patio furniture valued at $300 from a display on Renz Lane and fled the scene in a unknown-model Chevrolet, 4:34 p.m. Feb. 21.

A thief or thieves took a Motorola GPS valued at $150 from a gray 2003 Dodge Durango on West Sixth Street, between 5 p.m. Feb. 18 and 11:30 a.m. Feb. 19.

Child abuse

A child reported being abused by his or her father on Primrose Lane and Westwood Drive, Jan. 21.
