SOCCER: Brownell boys clinch playoff berth

over Herman Middle School on Thursday, guaranteeing the Bruins a
spot in the playoffs.

Raymundo Gonzalez, Marco Zamora and Oscar Gomez also tallied for the 8-0 Bruins.

Led by the defensive specialties of two other captains, Jorge Ontiveros and Juan Barragan and goalie Martin Sanchez, Brownell has yielded just 13 goals to its 53 scored.

Top goal scorers on the year for head coach Trudi Souza are Alex Flores with eight goals and another captain Carlos Jimenez with six.

The Bruins play Davis on Tuesday in San Jose for the league title. Playoffs start March 31.
