muscles, pounding out 18 hits in a 14-2 thumping of Alisal on
Thursday.
SALINAS – The Gilroy High softball team flexed its offensive muscles, pounding out 18 hits in a 14-2 thumping of Alisal on Thursday.

The Mustangs put at least one run on the board in six of the seven innings in the victory and now sit at 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the Tri-County Athletic League.

Melanie Morelos had a spotless day at the plate going an impressive 5-for-5, including a triple, and six RBI. Michelle Sosa and Casey Lester, who picked up the win inside the circle, each had three hits for the Mustangs.

Lester recorded her second win in three days, pitching a complete-game four-hitter. The sophomore tossed nine strikeouts, the only runs coming in the first inning.

Gilroy also beat Salinas on Tuesday and Stevenson on Wednesday, closing out the busy week 3-0.

The Mustangs return home Wednesday to take on TCAL opponent Alvarez.
