two games, including a 17-3 triumph over Scotts Valley on Monday as
part of the Lions Easter Tournament at PAL Stadium in San Jose.
SAN JOSE: After scoring a combined seven runs in its two games league games against North Salinas last week, the Gilroy High baseball team’s bats have come to life.

The Mustangs (8-2, 6-2 TCAL) have produced 29 runs in their last two games, including a 17-3 triumph over Scotts Valley on Monday as part of the Lions Easter Tournament at PAL Stadium in San Jose.

All nine Mustangs in the starting lineup had at least one hit in the win.

Leading 4-1 heading into the fifth inning, Gilroy exploded for 13 runs in the fifth, its biggest single-inning output of the season.

Sophomore catcher Jordan Dexter went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, and Neal Dinsmore went deep for the second game in a row. Bubu Garcia, Matt Elston, Brett Newton and Taylor Chris all had two RBI for the Mustangs, who littered the field with 15 hits.

Max Fishler pitched four innings to get the win on the mound. Fisher, a senior, struck out three and yielded just one hit.

Gilroy beat host-school Monta Vista 12-2 in the first game of the tournament Saturday.

The Mustangs await a matchup with Mitty (14-1) on Wednesday at 3:30 at PAL Stadium. The Monarchs are currently ranked third in section. They have defeated Monta Vista and Scotts Valley in the tournament so far.
