Police incidents: Juvenile stopped with two 40-ounce King Cobra beers

A juvenile was stopped because he did not have lights on his
bicycle on Longmeadow and Rancho Hills drives, 1:12 a.m. March 19.
He was found to have two 40-ounce King Cobra beers. The juvenile
was cited and released to his parents.
Graffiti

A juvenile was seen jumping off the back of a silver 1998 Chevrolet delivery truck on Monterey and West Seventh streets after tagging profanity in a red marker on the back of it, 12:08 a.m. March 19. The arrestee admitted to the tagging and was taken to juvenile hall.

Gilroy Municipal Code

A person was cited for curfew violation on Alexander and Lewis streets, 12:31 a.m. March 19.

Efrain Martinez was cited and released after stealing recyclables from a residence on Taryn Lance, 6:31 a.m. March 19.

Victor Noel Vaca was cited for recyclable theft on Eden Street and Wren Avenue, 11:49 p.m. March 21.

Possession of alcohol while younger than 21

A juvenile was reported missing from Martiri Drive, 6:30 p.m. March 18.

Vehicle tampering

Unknown suspects were seen trying to open the doors to a 1995 Honda Accord and a green 1994 Chevrolet on Walnut Lane, between 5 and 5:14 a.m. March 19. They were chased off by the victim’s grandsons.

Stolen vehicle

A thief or thieves took a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier from Alder Court, 7 a.m. March 19.

A thief or thieves took a black 1993 Honda Civic from Fairview Drive, 3:34 p.m. March 20.

A thief or thieves took a green 1995 Ford Escape (license no. 3LMP745) from the Levi’s Outlet parking lot on Arroyo Circle, between 5:30 and 7:20 p.m. March 21.

Residential burglary

A burglar or burglars took a Dell laptop valued at $1,339, a Motorola Droid cell phone valued at $600, a LG ENV3 cell phone valued at $200, a Blackberry cell phone valued at $500, and a woman’s purse with credit cards and identification from a residence on Victoria Drive, between 2 and 6 a.m. March 19.

DUI

A white 2001 Ford Ranchero was involved in a single-car, DUI-related collision on Hecker Pass Highway, 8:54 a.m. March 19. The driver was transported to a San Jose hospital.

Suspicious behavior

An unknown male approached a woman as she tried to enter her home on Bosco Lane and attempted to enter through the front door, 12:57 a.m. March 20. The suspect could not open the locked door and he ran off.

Fraud

A Ticonderoga Place resident’s credit card was used online to make purchases totaling $337, 9:39 a.m. March 20. It is unclear how the thief or thieves obtained the credit card number.

Non-injury accident

An unlicensed driver rear-ended another driver on Leavesley Road and U.S. 101, 2:53 p.m. March 20.

Missing adults

Two women, 46 and 49, were reported missing March 20 from Monterey Street, March 20. They returned March 21.

Road laws

A juvenile was arrested on Wren Avenue after driving without a license, 10:54 p.m. March 20.

Auto burglary

A burglar or burglars tried to steal a stereo from a car on El Cerrito Way, 12:24 a.m. March 21. They did not take the stereo but destroyed the dashboard, causing $300 in damage, while trying to remove it.

Assault

A woman came into the Gilroy Police Department on March 21 and reported that her boyfriend beat her up on March 8 near Carla Way and Wren Avenue.

Petty theft

A thief or thieves stole a rear license plate of a silver 2002 Toyota Coaster on Gaunt Avenue, between 9 p.m. March 20 and 12 p.m. March 21.
