GILROY – The much anticipated meeting of the two undefeated teams in the Little League Girls Major Softball didn’t disappoint as the Dr. Tommy Tong Orthodontics Bandits defeated the Earthbound Food Heat, 3-2 on Friday.

Anna Gamboa pitched a gem, striking out 13 in six innings. Anjelica Reyes, Alexis Conlon and Gamboa scored the runs for the Bandits and Gamboa also had two hits. For the Heat, Lauren Castro pitched a great game, only needing 80 pitches, 67 for strikes. Olivia led all hitters with three hits and Castro added two more.

The Heat had runners on second and third in the bottom of the sixth when Katie Zamapira hit a shot to the right side that Emily Boykin snagged and threw to first for the final out.
