A 5-1 victory lands the Heat in Gilroy Little League’s girls’
Majors softball championship game.
GILROY – The Earthbound Farm heat secured a place in the Gilroy Little League girls’ softball Major Division championship game, defeating Dr. Tommy Tong Orthodontics Bandits, 5-1, on Wednesday.
Lauren Castro and Alli Hathaway, who both had two hits, and Pati Soria with two RBI, helped lead the Heat’s offensive charge.
Strong defense from Morgan England at third base and Hathaway at second kept the Bandits at bay on the base paths.
The Bandits’ Anna Gamboa recorded 11 strikeouts and Amber Herrera scored the lone run.
The Heat will square off against the winner of today’s contest between the Bandits and Dr. Gallager Orthodontics Thunder for the championship Monday.
“This is a great group of girls and they played great today,” Heat manager Ed Castro said. “I’m very proud of them.”
