Auditions for The Gilroy Children’s Musical Theater’s upcoming show “Big Band Bash” will be held Saturday at Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St.

“Big Band Bash” is an interactive 1930s and ’40s musical revue, to be put on by the Gilroy Community Services Department and GCMT Artistic Director John Bisceglie, who founded the company 19 years and 40 shows ago.

Grades K-6 will audition at 11 a.m., grades 7-12 at 2 p.m. and ages 18-25 at 4 p.m.

The company is looking for 75 to 100 kids to be a part of the production.

“There is space for all levels,” Bisceglie said.

Each person auditioning will be asked to sing about 30 seconds of a song and to participate in a dance combination.

Bisceglie advised participants to choose a song that shows off their vocal range and personality.

For those who are looking for a role with a solo, he suggested picking a Swing music-type song from the ’40s or by an artist such as Michael Buble.

“Make sure to smile and be loud,” he said.
