PALO ALTO – Former Gilroy High field hockey player Elise Ogle scored her first-career collegiate goal last week as the Stanford Cardinal shutout NorPac opponent University of Pacific 6-0.

A freshman on the No. 20 team in the nation, Ogle came off the bench to post her first tally.

Ogle was the Mission Trail Athletic League Most Valuable Player in 2009, helping the Lady Mustangs to the Central Coast Section semifinals.

The Cardinal plays U.C. Davis Friday in Palo Alto and hosts No. 7 Michigan State on Monday.

GHS field hockey fundraiser

Dutchman’s Pizza in Gilroy will be the site of two Gilroy High field hockey fundraiser days in September.

If you are in the mood for pizza, Dutchman’s is the place to be Sept. 9 and Sept. 30. A coupon is needed to help the team. Coupons can be e-mailed to interested patrons.

Golf tournament at Gilroy Golf Course

The 25th Annual Gilroy Adult-Junior Golf Tournament will be held Sunday, September 26th at Gilroy Golf Course.

The 1 p.m. shotgun event is open to any junior golfers (17 and under) paired with an adult partner (21 and older)

The 18-hole format is a two person scramble on the front nine followed by a and two-person alternate-shot on the back nine.

The tournament will be divided into age groups of the juniors.

Cost for the event is $95 per team, which includes golf, cart, T-shirts, barbeque dinner and prizes.
