The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority has announced new leadership for its 2011 board of directors Monday in a press release. According to the statement, Mountain View City Councilwoman Margaret Abe-Koga is now the VTA board chair after serving one year as the vice chair in 2010.

Ken Yeager, a Santa Clara County Board supervisor who has served on the VTA board since 2007, has been appointed to vice chair of the VTA board.

The release says since 2007, Abe-Koga served on the VTA Policy Advisory Committee, and was the committee’s chairwoman for 2009 and its vice chairwoman for 2008. In 2010, she worked with the Ad-Hoc Financial Stability Committee comprised of local officials, business and community leaders, labor and other stakeholders to address VTA’s long-term budget issues.

Since 2006, Yeager has served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. In December 2008, he was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the board of the California Air Resources Board, the statewide agency responsible for reducing air pollution and combating global warming, according to the press release.

The board of directors meets on the first Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at the County Government Center, 70 West Hedding Street, San Jose.
