BOYS HOOPS: Cougars take care of Condors at home

Cougars even league record at 2-2 with win over North Monterey
County.
Three players hit double digits in scoring as the Christopher High boys basketball team rattled off its second straight Monterey Bay League victory, defeating North Monterey County 58-34 on Monday night in Gilroy.

Andrew Foster paced the bunch with 14 points, DJ Campos netted 13 and Wyatt Rocheleu posted 12 points for the Cougars.

“The kids played extrememly hard from the beginning of the game to the end,” CHS head coach Kaden Bahner said. “It was a much-needed win for us.”

Bahner pointed out the play of sophomore center Takoda Bowers who played a key role under the basket Monday night.

“He was able to be a presence under the hoop and was instrumental in keeping them off the boards,” Bahner said.

Bowers finished with five points and 10 rebounds.

“We were also able to penetrate and get to the basket instead of settling for jump shots,” Bahner added.

The Cougars (5-10, 2-2 MBL) sit in the middle of the pack in the congested MBL standings and face Monterey (8-9, 3-2 MBL)on the road Wednesday.

“Monterey is a team that is going to get out and run,” Bahner said. “That will be a test for us and we will see if the way we have been playing will carry over.”
