Gilroy High senior Julius Travis was named to the ESPN Rise preseason track and field All-State second team in the 200 meters, according to its website.

Travis finished second at the 2010 Central Coast Section Championships in the 100-meter dash, first in the 200 and was part of the Mustangs’ 4X100-relay squad, which took first as well. Travis’ times in the CCS finals – 10.67 seconds in the 100 and 21.83 in the 200 – are both school records.

The 42.42 mark set by the relay team in the same competition is also a school record. All four members of that relay team are back this season.
