With a 3-1 quarterfinals victory over Levya Middle School on Tuesday and a 3-2 squeaker over Sylvandale in the semifinals Wednesday, the Brownell Middle School boys soccer team takes the pitch today one win shy of a district title.

The Bruins, who earned their second straight league championship last week, face Boeger Middle for the district crown today at 4:45 p.m. at James Lick High School in San Jose.

The scoring attack in the Bruins’ previous two playoff wins was led by captain Andrew Jimenez who posted one assist and three goals over the two days. Jordan Juarez had one assist and two goals while Alan Hermosillo, Jacob Liberatore and Antony Ambriz all contributed assists.

Led by Antony Ambriz and David Solorsano, the defensive line, which withstood its toughest test in a couple weeks Wednesday, has continued its solid play. Goalie Francisco Hernandez turned aside 13 crucial saves in the two triumphs.
