The Gilroy Community Blood Drive and Music Saves Lives are letting participants receive special concert vouchers in exchange for donating blood.
The drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at the First Baptist Church of Gilroy at 8455 Wren Ave. Those who donate will earn certificates that can be redeemed at the Music Saves Lives booth at one of two upcoming music festivals at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View.
At the Vans Warped Tour show July 2, the voucher can be exchanged for access to an exclusive meet-and-greet area. At the Rockstar Mayhem Festival July 10, the voucher can be used to access the special Music Saves Lives riser stage. The voucher is not a concert ticket, and concertgoers must purchase their own entry tickets.
In the past five years, the Gilroy Community Blood Drive has been held 60 times, producing more than 2,400 units of blood, according to the American Red Cross.
To schedule an appointment for the Gilroy Community Blood Drive, residents can call 1-800-733-2767 or go to redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code “GILROY.”
