HONORS

Rachel Nin

Rachel Nin of Morgan Hill participated in Denison University’s production of “The Miss Firecracker Contest,” which was performed in April at the Ace Morgan Theatre. Nin was the stage manager for the play, which tells the story of a young woman who hopes to win redemption for her past by winning the local beauty contest. The comic play, set in a small southern town, features characters who are not always successful in overcoming their flaws.

Duane Stewart

Duane Stewart is Gavilan College’s Employee of the Month for April 2011. He is a groundskeeper in the Facilities Services Department and has been with the district since March 1989.

Duane has quietly gone about his duties as groundskeeper, beautifully maintaining Gavilan’s park-like setting. Never was this more evident than with the recent renovation of the Cosmetology Building.

As part of the renovation, it was determined that the students were in need of an outdoor area. Duane and other groundskeepers graded the ground, installed drain pipes, set borders and spread gravel. He volunteered to do this even thouogh the project was not in his area. According to Duane’s supervisor Jeff Gopp, Duane does this sort of thing regularly – helping co-workers with their responsibilities while maintaining his own assigned area.

Kacie Ann Campbell

Kacie Ann Campbell, of Morgan Hill, was named to the Seattle Pacific University 2011 Winter Quarter Dean’s List. Students on the Dean’s List have completed at least 12 credits and attained a 3.50 or higher grade point average.
