REC SOFTBALL: Where’s the 100-Percent Beef? At 5-0

Art Tomasetti and JR Hernandez hit consecutive RBI-doubles in a seven-run third inning as Beef clinched at least a tie for the first-half title. Anthony Lozano went 4-for-4, Mark Salazar 3-for-3 for HUH.

Team Anritsu is second with a 3-1 record after outlasting Humboldt Brewing 19-16. Paul Dominquez and Bobby Lopez each drove in a run in the top of the seventh as Anritsu struck for three insurance runs. Lopez finished with four hits and Dave Soto drove in five runs with a home run and two singles. Al Roybal went 4-for-5 and scored five Brewer runs and Daniel Valdez and Dave Keim Jr. each homered in a four-hit showing for the losers.

Danny Melendez and Mitchell Reese hit home runs to help the Borrachos by Team Hair FX 10-8. Rico Llamas and Mike Kachel each produced a double and two singles for Team Hair FX.

Frank Vargas Taxes slipped to 4-1 in Men’s BB League play Monday with a 43-3 loss to Team Talamo.

Vargas Taxes holds a one-game lead at 4-1 in the first-half standings heading into next week’s finale. Gino Martinez hit a two-run homer for the Taxmen. Leroy Dozal went 6-for-6 as Team Talamo (3-2) erupted for six home runs.

Team O’Neal topped IFC-Self Made 20-12 as both Marvin Cilantro and Albert Ramirez homered in four-hit showings. Jose Gamboa and Willie Gamboa each managed four hits for IFC-Self Made.

Shrekky’s Unit and the Hit Men will square off in a one-game tie-breaker Tuesday May 10 at 6:30pm at Las Animas after both squads lost first-half Men’s C League finales Wednesday.

Mountain Mike’s topped the Hit Men (4-2) by a 20-4 count, keyed by a homer, two doubles and a single from Joe Wood. Brent Boyd went 4-for-4 with a homer for the Hit Men.

Shrekky’s Unit needed to defeat Cosa Nostra to reach 5-1 and claim the first-half title. Alex Pena erased those plans with a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning as Cosa Nostra pinned the loss on the Unit (4-2).

All 4 Seasons Pet Services rolled by Kalai Kraze 26-13 in Women’s League play Wednesday, allowing Corey’s Girls to take the first-half championship.

Corey’s Girls opened the doubleheader with a 14-6 loss to Blackout Window Tinting. Lisa Low and Chrissy Ivory each doubled and singled for 3-3 Blackout. Angelica Garcia and Laura Vargas each went 3-for-3 as Corey’s Girls slipped to 4-2.

Maureen Hughes went 4-for-4 and scored four runs to lead All 4 Seasons past Kalai Kraze. Bria DeLorenzo homered and Laura Klemba went 4-for-4 for the winners. Carissa Kozacek homered, tripled and doubled as Kalai Kraze dropped to 3-3.

Battle Brothers finished the Men’s CC first half at 6-0 Wednesday with a 14-8 nod over the Players-HD Auto Glass. Charlie Duffy homered in a 4-for-4 Battle effort. Daniel Caspary tripled and singled for the Players.

Pacific Coast Bail Bonds reached 4-2 with a 19-9 victory over New Hope Community Church. Adam Paredes homered and Steve Aguirre lined three triples and a double for the Bondsmen. Jimmy Shrull went 3-for-3 for New Hope.
