The Gilroy High baseball team capitalized on 11 walks and needed only six hits to top Everett Alvarez 12-1 in five innings in Tri-Country Athletic League play Tuesday in Salinas.

Brendon Holler eased through the Eagles’ lineup, surrendering three hits and striking out three in the five-inning victory.

Ryan Alba and Buba Lara each had a hit and three RBI, and Ronnie Reed and Holler recorded one base hit and two RBI apiece. Eric Vegas and Jordan Dexter had the other hits for the Mustangs.

Gilroy (15-11, 10-7 TCAL) wraps up the regular season against San Benito on Thursday. The Balers (18-7, 14-3 TCAL), who clinched at least a share of the league title with their win Tuesday against Alisal, defeated the Mustangs in the teams’ previous two meetings this season.

Thursday’s finale is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
