REC SOFTBALL: Two leagues, two wins for Vargas Taxes

Paul Garcia homered and Roger Hernandez hit a pair of RBI-singles as O’Neal-Exteria gained a 5-3 lead after five innings.

Two walks, an error and an RBI-single from Memo Lopez helped Vargas Taxes tally four runs in the fifth for a 7-5 edge. Louie Garcia’s RBI-triple in the seventh keyed a seven-run Taxes rally.

Gino Martinez scored three runs for the winners, Ruben Ramirez three runs for the losers.

Richie Rodriquez homered in a four-hit effort to help Team Talamo past Shrekky’s Unit 26-11. Danny Pequeno and Henry Calderon produced four hits apiece for Team Talamo. Elias Madrid and Marcus Gaeta hit Shrekky’s home runs.

Vargas Taxes pulled out an 11-10 eight-inning win over JR’s Crew Tuesday as the Co-Rec B League’s second half opened at Las Animas Park.

Mike Hernandez singled and scored on Cassandra Sonnier’s single in the bottom of the eighth to complete the comeback. JR’s Crew produced a six-run first inning and led 8-1 by the third frame.

Mike Hernandez homered and DJ Lujan went 3-for-3 for the Tax club. Maureen Hughes, Gabe Ponce and KC Adams each managed three hits for the Crew.

Richie Rodriquez went 4-for-4 and Bobby Granados and Junior Salgado each homered to lift Just 2 Party by Blackout Window Tinting 19-4. Adrian Ponce and Anthony Corral produced run-scoring hits for Blackout.
