Seeing the potential of an untapped market in Gilroy, Aaron’s is ready to plant its flag in Gilroy.
The lease-to-own department store offers electronics, furniture and other home accessories.
With locations in Salinas and Watsonville, Gilroy is the next step.
“Gilroy is a vibrant market and we really think the city is unreserved,” said Aaron’s spokesman Bill Haas.
He said Aaron’s will most likely open June 3 at 363 Chestnut St. off 10th Street, west of the U.S. 101.
Erica Hernandez from the City of Gilroy Finance Department, said Aaron’s has not filled out any paperwork.
“Before they open they do need a business license. We make sure its signed off and there are no holds.” Hernandez said.
Haas said he filled out some paperwork a few months ago, but would not finish the process until all renovations are complete.
About five people have been hired already, and Haas expects to hire more as the year progresses.
According to Aaron’s website, items can be leased for up to 24 months without credit or a credit check with its LeasePlus program.
“We’re excited to be part of the community and prospering here,” Haas said. “We love to support everything local and we can’t wait to open.”
