REC SOFTBALL: Borrachos secure the second-half Men’s DD league title

 

Paired with Team Anritsu’s 18-16 loss to Humboldt Brewing, the
Borrachos earned the spot in the post-season with a 5-1 mark. Team
Anritsu is one of three teams at 3-2 with one game left on the
schedule.
The Borrachos earned the second-half Men’s DD Softball League title Friday with an 18-5 victory over Team Hair FX at Christmas Hill Park.

Paired with Team Anritsu’s 18-16 loss to Humboldt Brewing, the Borrachos earned the spot in the post-season with a 5-1 mark. Team Anritsu is one of three teams at 3-2 with one game left on the schedule.

Armando Uribe went 4-for-5 and scored three runs to ignite the Borracho offense. Eric Gebhardt and Gil Ramirez each managed two hits for Team Hair-FX.

The Borrachos will face first-half champion 100 Per Cent Beef in the Championship Game.

Team Anritsu held a 14-13 lead over Humboldt after six innings before the Brewers pushed across five runs in the top of the seventh. Dave Keim Jr., Dave Robinson and Dave Keim Sr. each lined an RBI-single in the Humboldt seventh. Robinson took game batting honors with five singles. Bobby Lopez and Paul Dominguez each registered three Anritsu hits.

Joel Garcia went 4-for-4 and Benny Cortez homered to help Familia-Dos Amigos past Claddagh Brew Crew 14-7. Garett Bennett went 3-for-4 and Jose Hernandez tripled and doubled for Claddagh.

The Heathens powered past Players-HD Auto Glass 14-2 Friday to leave three teams tied atop the Men’s D League standings at Las Animas Park.

Raul Monroy hit for the cycle and Zeke Lopez doubled twice as the Heathens moved to 4-1 with a date against 4-1 DeHaro Mechanical on July 8. Joe Ojeda went 2-for-3 for the 3-2 Players.

A-Plus Learning Center is 4-1 after a 12-6 nod over No Soup 4 You. Eric Vegas hit a grand slam for the Center. Toby Smith went 3-for-4 for No Soup 4 You.

100 Per Cent Beef defeated the Bike Center 17-9 by erasing a 9-6 deficit after five innings. Rick Trujillo collected five hits for the Beef offense. Alex Soto went 5-for-5 for the Bike Center.

Trevino Brothers Construction and VFW Bingo each won to advance to 5-1 in Men’s E League play Thursday at Las Animas.VFW Bingo rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to trim the Titans 11-10. Stephen Jeske’s two-out single plated Gary Tognetti with the game-winner. Jim Reimer went 4-for-4 for the Titans.

Mark Guajardo hit a grand slam and Mike Camino went 5-for-5 as Trevino Brothers topped HUH 34-5. Brad Hunter went 3-for-3 for HUH.

Trevino Brothers will play VFW Bingo for the second-half title on Thursday July 7 at 6:30pm at Las Animas.

Family First (5-1) claimed the second-half Men’s EE title Thursday with a 7-3 win over the Foothills. Family First will play No Soup 4 You in the Championship Game.

Louie & the Outlaws finished at 4-2 in second place with a 9-6 win over the Gilroy Bombers. Robert Jimenez hit a triple and two singles for the Outlaws. Behzad Kazemi went 2-for-3 and scored two Bomber runs.

James Flores homered in a 29-11 ACUS (4-2) victory over the Assassins. Ben Hartshorn and Tommy Muth each collected four hits and scored four runs for ACUS. Johnny Bueno went 4-for-4 and scored three Assassin runs.
