Coming out of the losers’ bracket, Don’t Trip posted wins of 8-5 and 16-15 over rival, and previously undefeated, Jus 2 Party to hoist the trophy and wear the souvenir T-shirts.

After two victories during play Sunday in the two-day, double-elimination 12-team event, Don’t Trip slipped out of the gates in a Monday morning meeting with Jus 2 Party, dropping a 10-7 contest.

Jazmin Perez went 3-for-3 for the Party offense, while Brandy Cervantes and Tomas Carrillo each doubled and singled for Don’t Trip.

The eventual titlists responded to the loss with a 16-9 win over SMC in the third-place game to keep their championship chances in tact.

Humberto Quintero lined four hits and Kris Haggard hit a triple and two singles for the winners. Jose Gamboa doubled up with two home runs for SMC in that contest.

The victory sent Don’t Trip headlong into the finals, where a double defeat of Jus To Play was in order.

Game 2.

Just 2 Party built a 14-10 lead after four innings in the final game of the tournament.

However, Laura Rubalcava drew a bases-loaded walk with two out in the Don’t Trip fifth, breathing life into the frame. The big blast came one batter later as Torres followed with a grand slam.

After Ruben Ramirez tripled and scored on a Cel Capulin sacrifice fly in the Jus 2 Party seventh, Carrillo doubled and scored on a Louie Garcia hit in the seventh for the champions.

SMC netted the third-place award with a 15-4 decision over JR’s Crew. Chris Salter went 3-for-3 for SMC.

n Unorganized Crime won five games in two days to capture the C Division title.

Danielle Scibuola completed a 4-for-4 afternoon Sunday by scoring in the seventh inning to give Blackout an 8-7 win over Unorganized Crime.

The Crime unit responded for one win Sunday before netting four wins on Monday, including two in revenge fashion over Blackout in the finals.

Ben Orduno hit one home run in a 13-0 blanking of Blackout, then drove in seven runs with two homers in the 18-4 finale. Jared Gill homered for Blackout.

Summer Fun dropped into the loser’s bracket Monday with a 16-13 loss to Blackout.

Ryan Evanger went 4-for-4 for Summer Fun. Gill homered in a 4-for-4 showing for Blackout.

Summer Fun finished third in the seven-team event with a 20-8 loss to Unorganized Crime. Evanger paced the losers with a double and single.

Ben & Joey’s Barber Shop settled for fourth place with a 14-7 loss to the Crime team Monday. Marco Lopez highlighted the Ben & Joey’s offense with four hits.
