REC SOFTBALL: More league titles up for grabs

 

IFC-Self Made earned the second-half Men’s C Softball League
pennant Wednesday with a 17-11 victory over the Hit Men at Las
Animas Park.
The tie-breaker game was necessary after the clubs tied atop the
standings with 4-2 marks.

The tie-breaker game was necessary after the clubs tied atop the standings with 4-2 marks.

IFC-Self Made will play first-half champion Shrekky’s Unit in the championship game on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Las Animas.

The Hit Men raced to an 8-3 lead after two innings before Jose Gamboa’a two-run double highlighted a five-run third for IFC-Self Made. After taking a 10-9 lead after four innings, IFC-Self Made put the game away with seven runs in the sixth frame. Jose Gamboa homered in a 4-for-5 showing for the winners. Neil Ferrera and Benji Sanchez each recorded a triple and two singles for the Hit Men.

Team O’Neal-Exteria won two Men’s BB games Wednesday to take the second-half title at Las Animas.

Team O’Neal-Exteria will face Frank Vargas Taxes in the championship game Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Las Animas.

Clint Minor hit two home runs, Albert Ramirez and Roger Hernandez one apiece to lead Team O’Neal-Exteria past Team Talamo 22-17. Richie Rodriquez went 4-for-4 with a homer for Talamo.

Team O’Neal-Exteria added a 12-9 win over Frank Vargas Taxes. Ramirez and Minor hit homers in the second as O’Neal-Exteria built a 7-2 lead. Tomas Carrillo managed three hits for the losers.

Just 2 Party upset Vargas Taxes 12-9 in Co-Rec B play Tuesday to leave both teams at 5-1 atop the four-team league.

Just 2 Party will play Vargas Taxes for the second-half title on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Las Animas. The winner will face first-half champion JR’s Crew at 7:40.

Junior Salgado homered and Yolanda Esquivel tripled and singled to spark the Party offense. Joel Vaca went 4-for-4 for the Tax club.

JR’s Crew completed the second half with as 14-9 win over Blackout. Marc Vegas scored four Crew runs. David Meacham went 3-for-3 for Blackout.

Rush Order completed the Co-Rec C second half at 4-2 with an 18-3 decision over Out 2 Play Tuesday. Greg Martinez hit for the cycle for Rush Order. Art Naranjo doubled and singled for Out 2 Play.
