Luca Rutigliano, executive chef at CordeValle, will be a guest competitor on “Extreme Chef” reality television show, which will air at 10 p.m. Thursday July 21 on the Food Network.
“Extreme Chef” is a new primetime series based on three competing chefs being pushed to their physical and mental limits, as they adjust to extreme conditions and any number of other seemingly insurmountable challenges to prepare a meal.
In this episode, a hail storm throws the chefs into a panic as they attempt to cook in a freezing cold ice house. And to source their ingredients, they must race down ice slides and chisel through 300-pound blocks of ice. Encore broadcasts are 1 a.m. Friday July 22, and 2 p.m. Sunday July 31.
Rutigliano’s passion for the finest ingredients was inspired by early trips with his mother and grandmother to the local farmers’ markets in the countryside of Italy, where he grew up surrounded by a bounty of fresh produce and stunning scenery.
As executive chef of the picturesque resort nestled in the inland foothills southwest of Morgan Hill, Chef Luca is able to realize his vision of combining the freshest local produce and organic meats to create a simple yet succulent contemporary Californian menu infused with Italian influences.
Chef Luca received a portion of his culinary training at the prestigious Etoile Culinare University in Venice, Italy. He has gained extensive training at five-star hotels and resorts throughout Europe, the Caribbean and the Middle East. Most recently he held the admired position of Executive Sous Chef at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, in New York. His awards and accolades include first place at the Super Star Culinary Competition and the Vatel Club 2005 Trophy.
