The final game of the USSSAA Double -A state championships had double meaning for the U14 Gilroy Chaos baseball team.

One, of course, was that there was a title at stake. Secondly, and more of a sentimental twist, it was the last game of the season for a team that will soon split and continue on to three different high schools. Everything ended the Chaos’ way.

The tournament’s Most Valuable Player, Justin Hale, tossed six shut out innings and Mark Kinoshita came on to tie up the loose ends in the seventh to preserve a 1-0 Chaos victory over the Elk Grove Dirtbags for the championship.

The Chaos went 3-0, beating the California Bulldogs 9-3 then the Dirtbags in the teams’ first meeting, 11-3.
