City of Veils,

– will speak at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna Street.
At 7 p.m. Thursday, Zoe Ferraris who wrote “City of Veils,” – a Best of 2010 by the UK Guardian and San Francisco Chronicle – will speak at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna Street.

Ferraris moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in the after-math of the first Gulf War. She lived in a conservative neighborhood with her then-husband and his family, a group of Palestinian-Saudi Bedouin. Her first novel, “Finding Nouf” won the Los Angeles Times’ Book Award for First Fiction.

Her second novel, “City of Veils,” has been chosen as the Best of 2010 by the UK Guardian, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Sun Sentinel. She received her master’s in fine arts from Columbia University and currently lives in San Francisco.
