A fundraiser will be held to benefit two young girls who were injured after their pickup truck they were riding in collided with another vehicle July 19 on a highway approximately 20 miles northeast of Stockton.

The two girls, ages 8 and 10, were admitted to the University of California, Davis, Children’s Hospital with severe internal injuries after their grandparents, Gilroyans Joyce Hall, 64, Howard Hall, 68, suffered major injuries resulting from a head-on car accident that left a 16-year-old girl dead.

A family friend said the two granddaughters could remain in the hospital for a month.

The fundraiser will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 14 at El Roble Elementary School at 930 Third Street in Gilroy. It will feature a car wash, pony rides, Papa Murphy’s pizza for sale and a bake sale hosted by the South County Derby Girls.

“We’ve all been in prayer for them,” said Eric Cho, pastor of Gilroy’s United Methodist Church where the Halls attend service. “They know people in the community. They have deep relationships with people in the community.”
