Unemployed encouraged to attend fair Thursday

Supervisors' split vote favors staying with Habitat Conservation Plan

San Jose.
SAN JOSE – The Santa Clara County social services agency is hosting a job fair 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at 1879 Senter Road, Door #10 in San Jose.

The Employee Connection fair will link CalWORKs clients – California families receiving aid/services from the welfare program – to employers in one place/ Once a CalWORKS recipient is employed, cash aid is reduced or discontinued. The county has also invited 700 families whose unemployment aid has been discontinued because of new state regulations, that lowered the maximum time on aid from 60 to 48 months.

Participating employers this year include, Valley Transit Authority, AMTRAK, AEROTEK, Best Buy, Barrett Business Services, Inc., Wendy’s, Western & Southern Life, Securities, Coast Personnel Service, VOLT workforce Solution, and Edible Arrangements.
