REC SOFTBALL: No lie, Pinocchio’s Pizza opens with win

Pinocchio’s Pizza opened play in the Fall Men’s DD Softball League schedule with an 11-9 edging of Claddagh Brew Crew Tuesday at Las Animas Park.

Claddagh struck for five runs in the first inning but did not add a sixth run until the fifth frame. Pinocchio’s claimed an 11-5 lead by striking for seven runs in the top of the fifth inning, keyed by a triple and single from Jeff Smith.

Jesse Ramirez went 4-for-4 for the Pizza offense. Rick Hoiberg went 3-for-3 and Rick Chavez hit a two-run triple for Claddagh.

Benny Carrasco collected four hits and Joseph Oviedo scored four runs to pace Family First past AG Construction 19-13.

Robert Jimenez went 3-for-3 for AG Construction, clubbing an RBI-double in the second and a two-run triple in a seven-run third inning. Henry Huerta added three singles. Al Orosco two doubles to the AG offense.

Jake Wischmann homered and Eric Wischmann scored five runs to propel Those Guys past Sons of Pitches 19-5.

The Pitches line-up produced five runs in the first inning, keyed by Hugo Arriaga’s two-run single.

Feather Haven opened Men’s Fall D League play Wednesday with a 16-7 decision over Los Chilotes at Christmas Hill Park.

John DeCarlo powered a three-run home run and Phillip Alosi hit a triple and two singles for the winners.

Addison Quach went 4-for-4 and Juan Contreras homered for Los Chilotes.

Picasso’s Tattoo turned back VFW Bingo 22-15. Mark Pineda, Victor Rodriguez and Jake Maslanka each registered four Picasso’s hits. Isaac Sepulveda added a three-run Tattoo homer.

Gary Tognetti, Rudy Gonzalez and Nick Robinson hit homers in a 10-run fifth for VFW Bingo.

Noe DeLaTorre hit for the cycle to lead the Borrachos by Heinzen Manufacturing 21-10. Peter Bisceglia and Abraham Hernandez each homered for the winners.

Daniel Valdez went 3-for-4 for Heinzen.

Kalai Kraze trimmed Garlic Heat 6-5 in the Women’s Fall League opener Wednesday at Las Animas Park.

Carissa Kozacek, 3-for-3, hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the final frame for Kalai Kraze. Dora Olivares plated Shelly Ceballos with a single to break the tie. Julie Ruiz and Breanna Salgado each scored two runs for Gilroy Heat. Tina Flores and Tara Aguilar each went 2-for-2 for Gilroy Heat.

Brandy Cervantes went 4-for-4 and Corey Casillas hit a triple, double and single to help Don’s Trip past Still Ms. BeHaving 23-8. Tracy Mason went 3-for-3 for Ms. BeHaving.
